Edgewater, FL — December 14, 2025 The Volusia Young Marines brought solemn honor and heartfelt gratitude to Edgewater Fire-Rescue this weekend as part of the annual Wreaths Across America observance. Following wreath-laying ceremonies at Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach cemeteries, the youth organization gathered with firefighters, veterans, and community members to continue the tradition of remembrance.

With crisp uniforms and steady voices, the Young Marines performed a ceremonial tribute, underscoring the mission of Wreaths Across America: Remember. Honor. Teach. Their presence at Edgewater Fire-Rescue highlighted the connection between military service, first responders, and the community’s shared commitment to honoring those who gave their lives in defense of freedom.

The ceremony carried a powerful symbolism. Edgewater Fire-Rescue, itself a guardian of life and safety, became the setting where young leaders honored those who had safeguarded the nation. The wreaths, evergreen and enduring, represented not only remembrance but also resilience—a reminder that sacrifice is never forgotten and that traditions of respect must be carried forward.

Fire-Rescue officials welcomed the ceremony as a meaningful extension of the day’s events. “It’s inspiring to see young people carry forward traditions of respect and remembrance,” one firefighter noted. “Their dedication reminds us that service and sacrifice are never forgotten.” Veterans in attendance echoed this sentiment, emphasizing how the involvement of youth organizations ensures that the lessons of history remain alive for future generations.

The ceremony concluded with wreaths placed in honor of fallen heroes, accompanied by a moment of silence. Families, veterans, and first responders stood shoulder to shoulder, reflecting on the lives remembered and the values passed on to the next generation. For many, the silence was filled with personal memories—of loved ones lost, of comrades remembered, and of the enduring bond between community and service.

The Volusia Young Marines’ participation drew praise from attendees, many of whom expressed gratitude for the group’s role in keeping history alive. Their involvement not only honored the fallen but also taught younger generations the importance of service, unity, and remembrance. In a time when communities seek connection and shared purpose, the ceremony stood as a testament to how traditions can bridge generations.

Thank you, Young Marines, for ensuring that the legacy of our heroes endures.
